Stand Up Be Counted

If you’ve got something to say about the world around you, there’s a new online tool to help you do just that – and it could count towards elements of The Senior Section Programme.

Stand Up Be Counted is a platform by Sky News for 16 to 25-year-olds to share the videos, pictures or blogs they make on topics that are important to them.

The project aims to get more young voices in the news agenda and increase political engagement – including getting more young people registered to vote.

Some of the issues discussed on the site are:

  • whether 16-year-olds should have the right to vote
  • bias in the mainstream media
  • attitudes towards young people.

If you want to share your views on these or any other matters that are important to you, head over to Stand Up, Be Counted and sign up to get started!

How it could count towards The Senior Section Programme

  • Any member that uploads a video could use it as a Phase 1 activity for the ‘Personal Values’ Octant in Look Wider.
  • It could also be incorporated into the Girls Matter campaign as an extra clause towards the ‘Hear Our Voices’ pack and accompanying badge.
